#Ukraine: RSF welcomes @pace.coe.int 's decision to award the Václav Havel Prize to Maksym Butkevych, cofounder of the independent media outlet Hromadske. The move highlights the crucial role of journalists at a time when 26 Ukrainian reporters are still detained by Russia.

Ukrainian journalist and human rights defender Maksym Butkevych has been awarded the 2025 Václav Havel Prize.

Two other journalists, from Georgia and Azerbaijan, were runners-up for the Prize, which honours action to defend human rights worldwide.
