Rubbish birder, much better electrical engineer and BWFC follower. I'm lucky to live on Anglesey and I am Sophie the poodle's human.
A small stream of herring gulls flew over from the sea. Some of them laughed but most of them were silent not finding the joke funny I suppose. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

It was dark and damp at my mum's when me and Sophie went in the garden. We were treated to the singing of robins, blackbirds and wrens. A herring gull laughed and a to top it all off, a tawney owl gave a little hoot. I'd forgotten what urban birds sounded like. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Blue sky and frosted roof tops at my mum's. A male blackbird stands proud on a neighbour's roof backlit by the blue. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

I'm at my mum's near Manchester again and (surprise!) it was damp first thing. Snap on the blackbird. Mum's blackbird was pecking at something on the drive while a robin whistled a jaunty melody. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

It took until 8:20 this morning before I saw my first birds. 2 jackdaws bobbing around my neighbours' chimney pots. The wind doesn't seem to bother them but it's put off our robin, dunnocks and sparrows from visiting. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

I can half a moon and Jupiter again as I scan the surroundings for birds. A herring gull and a carrion crow call somewhere out of sight and then my robin appears. Thankfully he survived storm Bram, which is more than I can say for parts of my recycling trolley. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

There were no birds in the garden or the street at 7:30. I think they were hiding from the wind and rain. At 8:30 I saw 3 house sparrows clinging to the feeder. It's a good job our back garden offers some shelter from this storm. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

The moon and Jupiter illuminated the garden in the half light this morning. The FBOMD were three gulls silently gliding above us silhoutted in the clear dark blue sky (a relief to see after yesterday's torrential downpour). #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Sophie and me stepped into the garden in the gloom that promises rain. The almost empty feeder was guarded by a robin and a dunnock and, as usual, Sophie ignored them, but I got the hint. "OK, I'll fill the feeders, give us a mo". I filled the feeder and the guardians tucked in. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Tweak the Bradford Vertu team to give those lads more minutes?

A crow silently glided over the garden followed by the t-chacking of two jackdaws who land on my neighbour's chimney. One looks down it and "pop" there he goes straight in. A few moments later, he pops back out. They have a conversation and then off they go.

Mine was walking along the footpath by the Afon Cefni between Llangefni and RSPB Cors Ddyga. Redwings darted from the path in front of me and a large flock of starlings "whooshed" overhead.

It's disgusting isn't it? The blindingly obvious thing to do is ban the releases of game birds but it's almost like the shooting industry has some hold over this and previous governments. It can only be money.

Snap on the robin. He was standing guard on the fence near the feeder. Behind him, 6 oystercatchers flew over the coastal path and somewhere a crow crowed. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
