Blaming Biden while whitewashing her recent past strikes everyone as incredibly hollow. She now hopes we all just fell from a coconut tree.

Btw i love those old jazz chord books. ill often just flip through one and find something interesting. we often forget that the public libraries often have these sorts of materials to check out too. im going to make a point of looking into that at mine.

Yea, the sight reading is just a mind muscle ive been unwilling to excercise. I should overcome that fear.

Yea, im maybe not ready for staff reading, but also maybe i am. I used to play alto sax in HS but had a horrible band teacher who resigned me to quitting. Seemingly ive lost that ability as the experience was highly negative.

When i first took guitar lessons at 16 i was not ready for theory. I just wanted to learn my favorite Nirvana, Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins, or Weezer songs. Now as im older I recognize that the theory behind those things, the why, is important. At the time I was like "circle of fifths"? wtf :p

cool. what course are you using? im interested in such courses, but also reasonably skeptical as seemingly every Youtuber has a course now.

Its interesting too how even culturally people learn certain chords in different shapes, so when you learn a song and see theyre playing it with an inverted chord it makes sense now because theyre creating something that sounds complex but using the inversion to keep it in the same fretboard area

idk why no one ever broke it down to me before that a chord is just three notes (obv it can be more). the guitar is difficult to wrap your brain around because the physical layout is not linear in the way a piano for instance is.

yeam, the learning process is many years for me, and ive not made a concerted effort on the theory shit, but just playing and enjoying it is rewarding
