The steps to erasure: it started by the government telling us that no Métis were Indigenous; it's progressed to being told we aren't Métis.

Are we shifting Indigenous identity exclusively to people harmed? If Indigenous Peoples become successful, a new enfranchisement criteria reminiscent of 1855, when if a man could read or write, had no debts and "of good character", he, his wife, and children became magically colonized?
Consequence of U of Sk report written by lawyer Jean Teillet requiring implementation of stricter policies and processes for verification of Indigenous identity. Universities found the recommendations complicated and very costly. It just made it easier for them to justify getting rid of DEI.

Instead of accusing people of mixed Indigenous ancestry of being "raceshifters" and "pretendians," why aren't birthright organizations working at repatriating their kinfolk?
Why does this have to be led by the colonial government at ISC? Is that really SELF-governance?
