It was partly political decision. The purchase was born in a few days without testing the aircraft, and pilots sent to USSR learned about the aircraft only when there. USSR's offer to sell MiG-21s was surprising, the type was new and even the satellite states at the time hadn't yet received it.

There is a genuine MiG-21BIS on the roof of the Verkkokauppa. com store in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki. The aircraft were acquired by the Finnish Air Force from the Soviet Union in various versions starting in 1963, and were in service in Finland until 1998. (Tuula Sipilä 2024)

Hi Sheila, no big drama. Felt some persistent chest pains on Monday and took a cab to doctor's. Hospitalised, then angiography yesterday, no problems there. Home again, with thick bandage over my wrist.

Home again. Thanks for the well wishes. Use of right arm a little restricted for a week, they made a hole into my radial artery for angiography, due some chest pains. Nice to see inside my coronary arteries, they were clean. Got some prescriptions, though.
