So I'm visiting my octogenarian parents in Florida like a good son and noticed something shocking. It's peak snowbird season and I haven't seen a single Canadian license plate.

I came up with a new phrase today after riding my bike in the misty rain here in the Pacific Northwest, "optimistically defiant", that happy feeling you get when you buck the car centered world.

As a recent transplant to #Eugene OR, I still can't get over just how good the bicycle infrastructure is. It's actually useful, I can even ride to Costco, which means now I need cargo bike for that 48 roll pack of toilet paper....

Nothing is more quintessentially Oregonian than the Enchanted Forest near Salem. I got to spend a day with the grandkids there, it's a breath of fresh air.

After hearing lots of folks recommending the new Superman movie, my partner and I went down to the wonderful Metro theater in Eugene to see it. Wow, what a disappointment.

I was just binge listening (is that a thing? it should be) to Al Stewart. I was surprised he wasn't a history major, as it's obvious he shares a love for it.

By chance I was able to visit the Manzanar Japanese-American Internment camp. Very timely, since this was the last time when an administration ignored the 5th Amendment "No person shall...be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law".

I'm in Costa Rica now, and one of things I like about travel is that it allows me to appreciate things back home that I take for granted. It occurred to me today the importance of a robust solid waste disposable system. Knowing that trash will get picked up regularly is really nice.

I'm in Costa Rica now, and one of things I like about travel is that it allows me to appreciate things back home that I take for granted. It occurred to me today the importance of a robust solid waste disposable system. Knowing that trash will get picked up regularly is really nice.
I'm drove my EV (VW ID4) down to LA and have experienced first-hand how over-stretched the public charging infrastructure is. I'm quite optimistic about EVs replacing ICE, but worry that the transition will take longer than hoped and maybe that isn't all bad as the underlying infrastructure matures
