All Kalos has over other games is its excellent gameplay, and even then that's a "Gen 6" thing, not an "XY" thing. ORAS just takes the few good things about XY and puts it in an actually GOOD game.

It’s hilarious how this game has a real time battle system, an interesting take on the jerk rival, and parkour that makes you feel like Spider-Man, but nah. The flat windows in the background are too immersion breaking apparently

I view any-and-all hate against Generation 7 specifically as a "Red Flag". Gen 6 is famously shit, Gens 8 and 9 are topical so they're easy pickings (even when you're wrong), but hating on Gen 7 just screams "Baby with the Bath Water".

Pokémon is just so weird and stupid and dumb and fun. My buddy on Pokémon GO! is a candy apple that's also a dragon. Last week in Legends ZA, a sushi tried to kill me. In Scarlet and Violet you get around by feeding magic sandwiches to your sentient bike. It's a whimsymaxxer's paradise.

Glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I loved gradually bonding with Nemona, Arven, and Penny over the course of the game and having all three join you in the endgame story was a great way to tie their journeys together. Koraidon/Miraidon are also fun companion Pokémon to have around.
