Hopefully one day we Australians will cut ties with the US for good and realise we’re part of Asia and our diplomacy should reflect that, but our population is far too racist to do that I’m afraid. Even more racist than the general US population I’d say

Oof, putting this one in the starter pack with the others I think about anytime I see somebody earnestly prattling about the men’s loneliness crisis.

And my second caveat in response to a lot of responses—this isn’t an argument that men being lonely isn’t happening. This is an argument that loneliness is not exclusive to men and that the reigning discourse around MALE loneliness is really about unmet expectations for women

Because this has gotten so much traction I must also specify—the issue is not that men CAN’T clean. The issue is domestic labor is STILL overwhelmingly performed by women. It’s not a question of ability. It’s how this work is actually divvied up and how people think it should be divvied up.

With regards to less sex and actual loneliness, women are experiencing these things, too. Women may be more likely to have friends than men, but women are still getting lonelier. Women struggle with dating. The newer male struggle is expecting but not having someone to do your laundry for you
