Will not obey in advance
Can you point to a source that ties this to the Spanish Civil War? I agree that the phrase is ominous, and I don’t doubt that it means what it sounds like it means. But my Spanish wife has never heard this phrase, and extensive googling last night in both languages didn’t turn up anything for me.

The guy who coined the “do not obey in advance phrase” is adamantly against violence. There’s a huge range of tactics in between Molotov cocktails and capitulation.

I’m into approaches that are not counterproductive. If it becomes actually violent, we will lose. I think that’s not up for debate. India gained independence through nonviolent noncooperation. I’m all for national strikes, organized nonpayment of federal taxes, etc. violence will backfire.

“Don’t take the bait“ says that ICE, Noem & Miller are itching for someone to become violent. That’s the excuse they are waiting for to really crack down. What we’ve been seeing is a preview. And if it comes to violence, they do have a bigger guns. Your legal rights mean little when you’re dead.

Hearing people say “learn English” in the Guadalupe Hidalgo states just baffles me. Do you see the place names? Do you realize this was all Mexico when your great-grandparents were alive? Do you realize a lot of these families were living here before that?

Some people had exactly that in mind

So many Americans regularly ate Asian food in the 1980s. Granted, he lived in Dubai from age 5 to 15, so his family may have been slightly more cosmopolitan than the average Louisiana family. And yet…

You’re so ironic most of the time that I actually have no idea how to read this.

Here, let me find a misinterpretation of what you said that’s dependent on one or more fallacious logical leaps. Now I will flap my arms and shriek about this misinterpretation. Finally, a shrill, performative condescension about how aghast I am that you would say such a thing. Like my post.

There is no open seat. The open seat is filled at the time you become a senior federal judge.
