So it’s come to this: I’m seeing articles that recommend foraging as a way to deal with food insecurity. Even better if you forage for edible invasive plants. Did you know you can eat kudzu? Um, no. I did not know that. You know why? Because we haven’t been hunter-gatherers for 50,000 fucking years!

I’ve lived in this part of Ohio most of my adult life—long enough to know that we have two types of winters: those where we get no snow and those where we get slammed. Having our first snowfall before Thanksgiving does not bode well. Sigh.

On Saturday, I’m going to “Freak Show at the Phoenix”, a promotional event for local artisans and a historic theater. Not sure what to expect. Maybe some bizarre performance artists and momento mori art? I hope I hook up with some dude in attendance so we can tell people we met at a freak show. 🤣

Everyone should have a pathologically helpful best friend. If you don’t have one, I highly recommend getting one. Mine has saved my ass more times than I can count, like this morning when I came to work half-dressed and she ran across town at 7:00 to grab my scrubs and bring them to me. 🤣

I assembled this IKEA bookcase all by myself today and got the doors (sold separately) on straight and level with no weird gaps or janky-ness. Quite a feat considering that 6 hinges were involved and the substrate was particle board.
Anyway, my point is that I am functional as well as decorative.

The saga continues: My cat had 3 kittens sometime this weekend plus 2 that were stillborn. Obvious name choices for 2 of the survivors are Michael and Misty.
Taking suggestions for the third one.
Also: Anybody want a Siamese/Balinese kitten??

Aside from the wedding itself, my favorite part of the weekend was the pre-wedding party at the gay-hockey-live jazz bar Lapin Bleu. I especially liked the fat old dachshund that was dancing with the band. His boy-dog parts were swaying with the beat and in my head I dubbed him “Mr Balljangles”. 🤣🤣

I got a bargain on an airbnb in North Carolina except i have been locked out of my room all night. It could be worse. I was offered a spare room to sleep in, which is fine, but ALL my stuff: clothes, meds, makeup, contact lens case, money is in the original room. Any locksmiths out there???
