Should be noted that there is no options available to Palestinians in terms of another deal. Donald Trump and Israel are forcing a population undergoing a genocide to accept whatever they put forth or continue having the full extent of the Israeli military with US weapon support rain upon them

Canada cannot maintain its iron grip on the disappearing Indian formula under the Indian Act and claim to be committed to reconciliation. Legislative extinction for First Nations violates Charter, section 35, UNDRIP & our own laws. www.cbc.ca/news/indigen...
Remove 2nd-generation cut-off from Indian Act, witnesses tell Senate committee | CBC News
Indigenous leaders and experts say Bill S-2 takes small steps to address discrimination in the Indian Act but fails to solve deeper injustices like the second-generation cut-off.

On the eve of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Pierre Poilievre spoke out for the group he says faces the most hate-based violence.

I called for backup on this one. Luckily @pampalmater.com answered:

Reconciliation isn’t about token gestures, museum visits, or diversity training, writes @pampalmater.com. True reconciliation means respecting Indigenous peoples’ right to say 'No'—to development on their lands, to discriminatory laws, and to ongoing abuse.
True test of reconciliation: Respect the Indigenous right to say No
The right to say no is the core of any future relationship with the Canadian state and its citizens. It’s a basic right — one which is grounded in our sovereignty as individuals and Nations to decide ...

A quote from Battlestar Galactica that holds very true:
"There's a reason you separate the military and the police.
One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."

The CHRT is ordering Canada back to the negotiation table on long-term reform of the child welfare system.

Talks have been at an impasse since chiefs in assembly voted down a $47.8-billion proposal from Canada in October of 2024.

First Nations are rightly concerned about C-5 and the potential impacts to our inherent, Aboriginal, treaty and land rights. No government should legislate for itself unfettered power to trump Indigenous rights. @niigaanwewidam.bsky.social @aptnnews.bsky.social youtu.be/ITMXQbbuZ_c

Canada Day just happened.

But as folks celebrated near Parliament, a man was just elected to it who trivialized residential schools.

Bill C-5 just became law, despite vocal opposition from Indigenous leaders.

So I’m THRILLED @pampalmater.com is on the show this week!

Here's a sneak peek:

@pampalmater.com always excellent interviews.

The Governor General commented on her role in equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and said clearly it’s different than reconciliation.

This is a point I’ve tried to make and often get disagreement from EDI leaders.

Aspects of EDI intersect.
