Even though last time they said do NOT respond, and every yearly cyber training warns us against this stuff. I don't what I might write. All of this absurdity and watching it burn around us has left me extra blunt and snarky.

I had a relative telling me stories about how she was 'illegally forced', and there were counterindications for my brother and he was forced... reminded her I went with them both on the first day we were allowed, and they even argued into the high risk pool, but she just kind of shrugs it off.

Some are just willfully ignorant and rewrite their own memories. I know people who were happy to get the vaccines, in line as soon as they were available, and now say they were forced against their will and think it'll make them sick.

Well, one of them died a month ago - normally flags would still be at half staff. Then there's the absolute disinterest of most large media companies, and that all their warnings - even from Republicans - didn't help the election.

Ending the hiring freeze... then immediately saying all hiring goes through DOGE and they, along with all other agencies need to cut at least 75%? Do you think there's gonna be a lot of national park left after those cuts?

Our paychecks are more at risk from the haphazard cuts, and with the latest aiming for 75% reduction, this is really one of our last options to protect them. At least furloughs guarantee backpay now, and there are often loan and hardship options during.

They have to. He's shutting it down anyways. Don't let him just replace it with yes men and channel the funding away. With 75% aimed cuts we may as well all go look for temp jobs and maybe have something to come back to after their base gets to the FO part of what feds do for them.

You'd need the email from someone who's already retiring or something, since you would be able to tell who forwarded it, unless it'll just take emails that aren't even a reply to their letter.

I'd like to even believe the Dems will try to fix anything left in 4 years, but this talk wasn't around for shutdowns, benefits cuts, telework cuts, or COLAs not keeping up with inflation. They moved the bar until they had plenty of free scapegoat groups to pick from.

You watched them villainize DEI, BLM, the LGBT, feds, refugees, the poor, childfree, other religions... stop acting like its acceptable so long as you aren't throwing fuel on the fire. Don't let them disparage and scapegoat ANY groups unchallenged. Don't let it keep becoming the norm.

Even the farthest left info sources have barely whispered that the federal workforce is proportionally much smaller than it used to be, that benefits have shrunk, the strict merit hiring rules, and what many give up in order to work for the public and our country.

Decades of allowing the right unchallenged to insult and lie about the groups they hate have made it far too easy for the public to believe that they won't lose out in this.

They still have say over admin leave and such within the existing laws, even if OPM recommends too late that they not use it. That's what management gets the buck for. Make the call and they can mumble instructions for next time. If they make it worse, at least they are in the line of blowback.

The agencies at least should be making the calls on whatever info they have earlier. There's nothing that should be making them wait for OPM to change their mind 10 times (and probably still give no guidance), and their employees need to make their own choices and arrangements.

As far as I can tell, almost everyone I know called in. That never used to happen during snow. It's not like I'm burning leave to go make snow angels. Unscheduled leave = autoapprove sick leave though, and I have about 1000 hours of that.

We are so far from the old Ford story, or just businesses that grow alongside an uplifted customer base, mutually benefitting off a good product. Now a good thing is as likely to get bought and buried, and our media is a reflection of similar motives & tactics.

So many business models have made investor interest directly opposed to good products, benefits to the public, and sometime even the long term business longevity. It leads to monoliths, pump and dump, etc, where profit is at best a distant neighbor to a passable product or happy customer.

No amount of purposeful design will stay robust to that over time. We need to find profit models that emphasize active interaction, return visits, and productive click throughs with quality sources, rather than pure eyeball time. When profit aligns with public good again, better systems will grow.

I don't think moderation does a ton until people are looking for engagement. The pipeline needs to change for those just mindless scrolling to algorithms that boost quality information and positive engagement rather than rage bait.
