Wow, the reserve bank did a monetary policy!

If complexity was good in itself, we’d all listen to jazz. Simple can be sophisticated.

They’re coming for the globalists now too? Who’s next, the politically correct?
pangelico.bsky.social
I agree - there’s no place for political violence and intimidation here and there’s no excuse for it, whoever the victim. All political parties should want to stamp it out.

It’s straight out of National’s playbook from the 90s, so no surprise but it sucks for employed people too because if you’re not feeling good about your job, there are no jobs to go to, and potentially there’s no safety net. Fluidity in the labour market would actually be a good thing for employers.

Luxon gave us a picture of kids on PlayStations which paints one of jobseekers as dole bludgers, rather than a product of economic policy. Might be trying to soften us up for further attacks on welfare.

It’s not that it pleases their voters, but that the media frames it in a way that pleases their voters. I didn’t watch tv news tonight, but imagine they presented it in a “both sides” bullshit way.

What will they think of next?

I guess Queenstown has a lot more vacancies per jobseeker because ordinary workers can’t afford the accommodation there. Nothing to be impressed by!

I’d be so here for Black Francis suing the Taylor Swift corporation

It’s a killer chord progression but they can’t be copyrighted, because imagine where we’d be then. Melodies and lyrics can tho.

Exactly. For 5,466 Northlanders it doesn’t make a difference how well they write their cover letters or practise their interview questions - only 83 can get a job.

When I lived in London 15 years ago, my hair started falling out. I moved back to New Zealand and started taking finasteride and still have a full head of hair. Either the environment or chemistry made the difference.

What a prick! Yeah moving is Oz is really the only option for getting a new job. But, what if you have ties here?

Will he trade Taiwan for soy beans and TikTok?

There are parallels to our govt, with evangelical belief, lack of intelligence and inexperience - not as extreme, but it’s a direction we’ve headed in

The GDP per capita really says it all and doesn’t even show last quarter’s 1% shrink.

Yes it seems inevitable when there’s no sign of a CGT to make it fair vs investing in productive things.. madness.
pangelico.bsky.social
It’s interesting that people are now investing in the share market, which has a CGT, instead of the flatlining housing market, despite the govt’s best efforts

Not importing so many fossil fuels and cars would really help and it’s something the govt could easily change, if they care about the economy. I don’t get why so many ordinary people think they need a car that’s far more upmarket than them… Also might be an idea to keep owning our own dairy brands.

I bet an orangutan would win a fight with him though

They’ve been talking about “green shoots” appearing for a year or two now, but no, I don’t see anything

He said “bodies like the UN are very important,” but what other bodies are there like the UN? It’s like something a dumb school kid would write in their essay.

I still have no idea what the vision is. Destroy liberal democracies, bring China to its knees, join Russia to rule the northern hemisphere.. I have no clue.
