Thrilled to announce I am spending my sabbatical at Princeton with a joint appointment in the IR Section and @princetonchw.bsky.social! 🐯

Week 1 is done and I'm happily settling in. Excited for a year surrounded by brilliant colleagues and inspiring conversations on a beautiful campus.

A beautiful, palm tree-filled day to spend the @nber.org Health Spring Meeting at @siepr.bsky.social @stanforduniversity.bsky.social, including lunch outdoors in the sun.

It was a wonderful closure to the week to get to present in the NBER Crime Spring Meetings today.

I had such a great time connecting with others working on crucial topics! Plus my corner room, balcony-included Sonesta spot is not too shabby either. 🌅

So glad to have this new paper out now in the Journal of Urban Economics!🎉

We (@beccataylorecon.bsky.social, Lester Lusher, and myself) causally estimate how time scarcity impacts food consumption, finding that when traffic is heavy people are likely to stop for fast food.

It was an honor to present my work at @stanford.edu's
@hooverinstitution.bsky.social annual conference earlier this week and learn about the many impactful research partnerships between academics and policymakers happening across the US!

Thank you to @vbolotnyy.bsky.social for bringing us together!

Good morning, Austin! Looking forward to a packed day of researcher-lawmaker conversations on what works when it comes to improving criminal justice system outcomes.

Catch me talking about the opioid crisis and substance use this afternoon!

It’s safety sash season on the rides after work these days!

I loved having my e-bike as my sole commute method this semester, and I’m ready to do it again for the spring!

Having a wonderful time meeting colleagues and giving the last seminar of the season at SDSU CHEPS today in sunny and warm San Diego!

Ps.: The last picture is the view from the seminar room! Wow! 🌴

Taught my last class of the semester today, and now already at the airport, off to San Diego to give a seminar at SDSU CHEPS.

As I walked through security, I arrived right to the beginning of the airport’s annual holiday celebration. What a nice way to kick off this year’s final research period. ✈️❄️

Lastly, I'm excited to be expanding my work on mental health with an ambitious agenda I've been building in the background on the 988 national crisis helpline. So much more is to come in this area!

I'm thankful to my mentors and colleagues for their support along this journey!

Third, my and co-authors' work on trust in police, which has been accepted at AER: Insights, has now been slated to an upcoming issue, so we're really looking forward to having that work out in print! 📰 3/4

Grateful to share that I have been named a Vanderbilt University C. Family Dean’s Faculty Fellow, a title acknowledging my "existing accomplishments and future potential to make an impact."

This seems like a great opportunity for a glance at the research projects underway and ahead🧵⤵️
