Connected to this is a total inability to tolerate, let alone absorb, any criticism. So many on the right are former center-left people who caught some criticism for a mistake and rather than listen & learn, chose to equate criticism with oppression.

I know many farmers who would be justifiably offended if you suggested to them that farming is the only thing they know anything about. Grassley is saying here that because he’s a farmer, he’s not qualified for other positions. Like chair of the judiciary committee.

I have a friend who insists on Session as a more secure option than Signal, and I don’t have the tech expertise to determine that for myself so I go along with it - but I also don’t think anything we are saying is all that sensitive.

When I was about the same age, visiting my grandmother’s house, I obsessed over 70s-era Doonesbury strips that sat yellowing on the shelves in what had been my uncle’s bedroom. I was trying so hard to get the jokes, and as I got older some of them would unfold for me. Thanks for remind me about it.
