But I do remember random chunks of like a zillion songs. Pretty sure this is common though.

I've always been insanely bad at remembering entire songs.

As a comsequence I only know all of the lyrics to the 4 songs I have obsessively drilled in the shower/car.

But not trying and doing badly is worse than not doing it at all.

And I think if your mindset follows that thought process to its final conclusion... the one where you don't try at all...

I guess I am used to being made fun of for trying too hard. Having my mistakes scrutinized. I have caught myself reflexively doing this to others unintentionally.

I am certain this pattern has been reciprocally reinforced by my peers.

There were a few other people that took the singing seriously, but they didn't really seem to have as much trouble snapping out of the reflective afterglow as I did.
