Here are 4 people working hard the last 24 hours got Miyares by attacking Jay : Trump, Vance, Miller, and Musk. It’s fine for us to engage in self critique as a party but let’s be clear about who and what we’ll face in Virginia with the wrong AG.
parisaforjustice.bsky.social
Jay is for criminal justice reform; Miyares isn’t. Jay is for women bodily autonomy; Miyares isn’t. Jay will support a Spanberger agenda; Miyares won’t. Jay will oppose Trump’s federal troops in our communities; Miyares won’t. Enough with the endless self flagellation. We have too much at stake.

I'll also add that the office of the AG is bigger than one candidate. Women's autonomy is literally on the line, not to mention our economy and educational instiutions. Again, Jay's words where horrific. But it's disqualifying that Miyares has done nothing to protect us from Trump's agenda.

Jay has publicly and unequivocally apologized. I respect him for taking responsibility and he deserves our support as the next VA AG. As for the Vice President, I’ll take morality lessons from him when he apologizes for endangering the lives of Haitians by lying that they eat people’s pets.
jamesabrenio.bsky.social
What Jay said was horrific, and I’m still processing everything. But I won’t be lectured by a guy who has encouraged an insurrectionist to destroy our economy and democracy and hasn’t said a word about a dude linked to literal Nazi porn. You demand Trump and Reid step down, and then we’ll talk.

Uhhh...it's not up to Jason Miyares, it's up to Todd Gilbert and his wife whether or not to accept Jay Jones' apology to them. bluevirginia.us/2025/10/wapo...

If you’ve ever in your life experienced impostor syndrome even for a second, take a look at this below and realize this is a real thing created by the man in charge of this country’s most powerful law enforcement agency.

Someone seems to be overcompensating, also subtle hint to militia folks is rather concerning.

The challenge coins being handed out by FBI Director Patel.

This is BS. My office (“far left prosecutor” per the GOP) is prosecuting this case and it would have been a crime regardless of which gender bathroom — or a parking lot for that matter. Elected leaders weaponizing what these victims went through for political purposes is its own depravity.

I see this, and all the this-means-war posts, and Fox hosts calling for involuntary lethal injection for homeless people, and I worry that we’re plunging towards realistic scenarios that are darker than anyone wants to acknowledge.

Stephen Miller: "The last message that Charlie Kirk gave to me before he joined his creator in heaven was he said that we have to dismantle and take on the radical left organizations in this country that are fomenting violence. That was the last message that he sent me ... we are gonna do that."

@jamellebouie.net speaks with moral clarity: here. We can denounce the violence that took this man’s life and grieve for the children and spouse he left behind while also being honest that his life’s work was about dehumanizing the rest of us who did not look like him.

It was and is the right thing to do.

DOJ’s self-inflicted losses are the Arlington DA’s office’s gains. Heck yes.

On the other hand, biglaw being too scared to hire people fired by Trump’s DOJ is shameful.

NEW: Arkansas announced plans for a mega prison in a rural town. Since then, locals are organizing to stop it.

At first they opposed it in their own town. But some now say they've taken a more critical look at how we incarcerate in the country.

make time for this new feature, you won't regret it

How Arkansas’ secretive plan for a new state lockup angered residents in a deep red corner of rural America—and changed how some see incarceration.

If Sen. Schmitt is right that America “is the property of a distinct ethnic people” then I am not and can’t ever be American, nor can my spouse & children. But this vision of blood citizenship is that of Dred Scott v Sanford. We fought a civil war to settle that question. At least I thought we did.

man. if Eric Schmitt's speech to NatCon isn't a sign of the times, i don't know what is
"America is not a 'universal nation.' ... [American] principles are not abstractions. They are living, breathing things — rooted in a people and embodied in a way of life."

Senator Eric Schmitt got a standing ovation at Nat Con DC for saying America as a nation is the property of a distinct ethnic people.

Americans are a mix of “the most adventurous, the most courageous, the most curious and innovative” of the English, Scotch-Irish, and continental Europeans, who came as settlers and have spent hundreds of years building, fighting, and dying for "a homeland for themselves and their descendants."

"We’re a nation of settlers, explorers, and pioneers — born on the ocean waters that carried the first ships to our shores and forged in the crucible of a wild frontier. Our people tamed a continent, built a civilization from the wilderness, and wrote our nation’s name in history.

"Our ancestors were driven here by destiny, possessed by urgent and fiery conviction, by burning belief, devoted to their cause and their God."

"The Continental Army soldiers dying of frostbite at Valley Forge, Pilgrims struggling to survive in the hard winter soil of Plymouth, pioneers striking out from Missouri for the wild and dangerous frontier, [and] outnumbered Kentucky settlers, repelling wave after wave of Indian war band attacks from behind their stockade walls, would be astonished to hear that they were only fighting for a 'proposition.'

"They believed they were forging a nation — a homeland for themselves and their descendants."

"America, in all its glory, is their gift to us, handed down across the generations.

"It belongs to us. It’s our birthright, our heritage, our destiny.

"If America is everything and everyone, then it is nothing and no one at all."

Crime is at its lowest in 55 years and yet the Democratic Party is running away from reforms. It’s mind boggling that the party won’t even embrace abolishing cash bail, which is the easiest case to make: no one should be in jail just because they can’t afford to buy their way out.

The Board Is doing the moral, smart, safe thing.
I have a message for the Lt. Gov.:
If you break the law in Arlington, you will be held accountable — regardless of your identity. What we DO NOT DO here, what we WILL NOT DO here is treat like criminals kinds who just want to go to school.

I’m honored that I had the opportunity to say a few words in support of the School Board’s affirmation of the rights, dignity, and safety of trans and non-bianarybkids this evening. Because supporting all our kids— to include our non-binary and trans youth — is fundamental to public safety.

Unfortunately, as a prosecutor I don’t have the staff or ability to investigate things on my own and the police departments don’t answer to me, they answer to the county board. So unless police investigate and charge, I can’t do much more than advocate.
