HTBYN: i like how their kink dynamic is kind of a departure from their regular dynamic, why is that so rare.
TTIGD: Lemming's voice is so fun. i did prefer her alien book just slightly.

Oleen is an oarfish-inspired mermaid of mysterious origins. Her dying grandmother left her egg with a very surprised human, and only a select group of humans know about her.

i'm glad i never got shy and deleted my old deviantart, as painful as looking at it sometimes is. these two are a real snapshot of the fashion i thought was cool in middle school. also, early stabs at (1) non-anthro characters and (2) drawing without lineart, which i'm still not very good at, lol.

i was a bit lukewarm on CAUGHT UP, but looking at all the reviews complaining about the nonbinary side character and the FMC's activism around sex work, fuck that. if you like mafia romance with a side of stalking, check it out. there's fun dialogue, a lot of heart, and excellent narrators.

so i haven't finished yet but i gotta say, the new RAVEN BOYS gn is a damn good adaptation. i really enjoyed the series in my teens & i already loved Sas Milledge (read MAMO, please, i beg), but i'm thrilled with how they've captured the feeling of the books. kudos @stephwilliams.bsky.social! 📚👍

lastly, i've been on a kick of books dealing with fame. DEATH OF THE AUTHOR (a bit of an outlier here) is gorgeous, absolutely fascinating. SPOILER ALERT gave me delicious secret identity shenanigans. i'm trash for THE DAYMAKERS and i will not apologize. and I WAS BORN FOR THIS is the sweetest 🧡

i've also read lots of prophecy/destiny tropes lately, somehow. CLEOPATRA IN SPACE was july's pick for my kids comic club, i'm excited to read the rest! SELF-SAME METAL won me over with fae chaos and Shakespeare. great heroine in NIGHTBLOOD PRINCE, and FLOATING WORLD had awesome worldbuilding! 📚👍
