I agree with your estimate. But I must stress that kudos are really not an indicator of quality. The best fics I've read are moderately successful. I'm not talking about a personal preference but of convincing characterization and plot. Emotional impact is in the eye of beholder.

You've explained it perfectly, it's just that it's not working 😭 though I deleted the end notes on the "general" page, opened chapter 1 in edit mode and pasted the notes at the end of that, I can still see them at the end of ch 2 as well.
