A massive thank you to the folks from the STFC & Boulby Underground Laboratory for showing me around for #DarkMatterDay!

We went 1km underground & I spoke with people who do this every day to better understand how our universe works. It was such a unique experience & I can't wait to show you more!!

I'm not always 100m underground, sometimes I can be found up a mountain too. #scientist

My signed copy of Everything is Tuberculosis by @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social has arrived!
If it wasn't for medical research into treatment for this disease, I wouldn't exist. My grandfather (right) got tuberculosis as a young man and spent time in Salterley Grange Sanitorium in Gloucestershire.

The Large Hadron Collider at #CERN has shut down for 2024. It's time to enter the regular winter maintenance period ❄️

Yesterday's launch event for ESA's Euclid telescope was fantastic. As a CERN scientist, it was fascinating to learn more about how Euclid will be studying Dark Matter and Dark Energy in our universe. I can't wait to see what results this mission reveals! 🌌🧪

Where the wild science grows! 🌼

Once a crucial component of CERN's Large Electron-Positron collider, this vintage LEP RF cavity is now nestled amidst a bed of wildflowers at Nikhef in Amsterdam. 🧪

Today, I gave a talk about particle physics and understanding the smallest building blocks of our universe at the UvA IOP monthly pizza seminar 🍕. Then it was directly off to CERN to talk about top quarks ☺️
