and then there was that ds9 episode where a bunch of academy pukes helped a coup of the federation! i think they may have been the same club, idk.

i don't even have p+ anymore so whatever

we get glimpses into that life and it's those snotty brats who peer pressured wesley into killing a guy because they wanted to do The Forbidden Stunt during flight class. i don't wanna watch that, man. they're much more bearable 20 years later when they know what a responsible bed time is

every star trek person basically graduated with a masters degree from a place of learning that by our standards is, like, ivy league new game plus and... i don't wanna see them in a place like that, man. i don't wanna see a bunch of college students in future mit

they're all highly educated with professional knowledge and experience and they apply those things to solving problems. it's like a big office building in space except everyone actually likes being there because post scarcity

idk if this makes me old and cranky, guess i'll accept the label if it does, but part of the appeal of star trek is that these people were grown adults with jobs
