A lot of people ask why our address isn’t public. The answer is simple.

Our residents are cruelty survivors and many are still involved in active investigations and court cases. Just like humans who have escaped violence, animals need a safe place to go.

Some of the wildest reasons we've heard for choosing not to spay/neuter:
"I want my dog to experience the joy of motherhood first."
"Neutering will ruin my cat's natural masculinity."
"They deserve the freedom to choose whether they want kids."

Rescues are in crisis. Get your pets fixed.

Panther did a damage assessment walk of the trails around the sanctuary this morning. Lots of fallen trees, branches, and debris.

Day 2 after the #BombCyclone, we've got lots of trees and branches down, damage to Dog Towne, Big Pig yard, and Aviary, and no power. Nothing will stop us showing up for the animals, though, and we're so grateful to have such a powerhouse team working to keep our residents safe, happy, and warm.

Starbucks removing the non-dairy milk charge is a response to mounting pressure from boycotts, record sales losses, and animal/social justice activism. This is great progress and sets a precedent for other dairy customers, but we need to keep the pressure on. Shop small, shop local, shop vegan.

On Friday we watched one of our rescued dogs go home after 10 months of waiting for a family. We're not crying, you're crying!!!!

Our sanctuary is on 85 acres of wooded, Coast Salish land. We're home to cows, goats, donkeys, llamas, alpacas, pigs, cats, dogs, ducks, chickens, turkeys, and a family of wild deer!

We've been building our sanctuary up and doing animal rescue work since Pasado, a beloved donkey, was murdered in 1997 by a group of teenage boys. We helped make animal cruelty a felony in Washington State in Pasado's name, and we haven't stopped there.

This is our boy Frank - we just celebrated him and the rest of our turkey flock at our annual Thanksgiving for the Turkey's event. Think big vegan feast on the sanctuary grounds, meeting all our rescued residents, walking through 85 acres of fall leaves in WA. It was pretty neat.
