This. So much this. I served on a jury in a false imprisonment / falsified police reports / misuse of force trial where the evidence against the officers and the testimony of other officer made their guilt clear. We were unable to convict on any of the charges.

In the year before I blocked his texts I don't remember a single message opposing a bill, or advocating for a policy, or announcing sponsorship of a measure, or calling for action. I do remember tepid calls for bipartisanship. I prefer leadership.
