If you look for the light, you can often find it. But, if you look for the dark, that is all you will ever see.

Current badass chick and former army major.
If you haven't yet seen it, there's a tracker for legal actions against trump and it's making me cautiously optimistic.

I filed this amicus brief on December 9th, 2024. I called out exactly how Musk could use his position to enlist federal law enforcement to baselessly launch criminal investigations of his critics.

One of the strangest things as our government gets illegally eaten hollow by a foreign-born, unelected idiot is that corporations' marketing staffs are still going on about their day, happily blasting notifications and emails about shoes and BOGO deals.

4. That all changed yesterday. President Trump, in justifying his transgender military ban, leaned on a new argument for why such an action restricting the rights of transgender people was necessary: that transgender people are lesser human beings, dishonorable liars, and worse.

Today, the president directed the Secretary of Defense to ban all "invented and identification-based pronouns." So I spent the morning using only proper nouns at work.

Everyone who voted for R to improve government efficiency and reduce spending… y'all are dumb.

The sheer financial cost of the decisions made in THE LAST 8 DAYS ALONE will be viscerally gross.

I may have strong feelings about this.

Anyone thinking this is a signifier of some moral position on any of these three is ignoring, I think, the realities of congressional voting.

I'd bet the whip could afford 3 Nays and still get this outcome under Vance, so these 3 got coverage to grandstand on pretense with no cost and some gain.
Also last night, the Senate confirmed this guy to lead our Department of Defense.

50-50 vote. JD Vance had to break the tie.

Only 3 Republicans voted no: Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and (surprise) Mitch McConnell.

I'm told the White House has requested the names of certain Employee Resource Groups relating to what they consider to be DEI.

Been a bit quiet because life is hard with all of this literally daily insanity and also managing a 2yo.

If able, I plan to review the new EOs in a little more depth. Federal employment is getting notably more difficult.

1. Yesterday, Trump released a broad anti-trans executive order that could have extreme impacts on transgender people's lives if implemented.

There has been much discussion of what it actually does.

In my latest piece, I go line by line to explain it.

A Line By Line Analysis Of Trump's Big Anti-Trans Executive Order
Trump released over 70 executive orders on Monday. While orders on immigration and climate got a lot of attention, his anti-transgender order could have sweeping impacts as well.

ABC White House correspondent just released ANOTHER anti-trans EO expected that we did not cover in our piece this morning:

A federal ban on funding to programs that acknowledge and affirm transgender people.

To the people out there who have said, "the Democrats did [some thing I don't like] about [some topic], so that's why I chose not to vote for them this time."

You know what else they didn't do?

Enact multiple hateful policies on day 1 centered around suppressing/oppressing vulnerable people.

The passport page about changing your gender marker is now down.

I'm expecting trans people's passports to be a major battleground of this administration.

"Goddamn AOC was probably moving them on her way out."

@aoc.bsky.social, on my run through DC this morning, I passed by the Capitol near the fence line. At about 0637, at the vehicle gate near D and Delaware, three bicycle cops (USCP?) were patrolling the fence around Cap grounds.

I didn't read this thread, but penultimate means next-to-last, so I'm curious what the final global power war is. Is it… is it just regular war?
Why are Bezos, Zuckerberg, Musk, Pichai and Tim Cook visiting and giving money to Trump ?

Because they are in “The Race “ to become the dominant platform in the world.

Amazon/Anthropic vs FB/LLama vs Google/Gemini vs Twitter/Grok, vs IPhones/ChatGpt is the penultimate global power war ever.

The sheer level of standoff police fencing for BLOCKS around the Capitol gives strong Iraq FOB vibes.

Remember these guys?

They're the native people of Tattooine.

About 80 years before the events of the prequel trilogy, these people conducted a brutal series of attacks on a Tattooine settlement named Fort Tusken.

Henceforth, they were referred to as Tusken Raiders. Seems unfair to most of them.
