For my people in Venezuela, life remains a struggle for survival: $3/month salaries, medicine, water and food shortages. I don’t care about the oil; I care about my people. The figurehead is gone, but until the system changes, nothing has changed

The "sovereignty" argument feels hollow when Colombian guerrillas have training camps in our land and rare minerals are being stripped from our jungles to benefit China. We have lived under foreign influence and internal occupation for a generation

Non-Venezuelan friends keep asking me about oil prices or "incursions." Honestly? I don’t care. The regime has been giving our oil away to Cuba, Iran, and Russia for years. We were "invaded" a long time ago by the likes of Wagner, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the FARC, etc.

Where is the transition to the leader we actually elected 18 months ago? Our rightful president, meanwhile, MCM—a Nobel Peace Prize winner—is still in hiding, while the international community fails to enable the democratic change we voted for

While the world talks politics, my reality is personal. My mum is still in shock from the bombs that fell near her home. The regime hasn’t stopped; it’s just changed hands

But the joy is cut short. The head is gone, but the apparatus remains. Maduro’s second-in-command is now in power. Despite US officials statements, she’s already signalled zero concessions—not even the release of our political prisoners

I am deeply conflicted. Nicolas Maduro is finally behind bars, and a part of me is over the moon. This regime is responsible for 8K + political prisoners, 500+ protesters killed, the death of free media, 15 years of stolen elections and pillaged resources, and the list goes on.

I am building (with a team) a platform where engineers can choose their tooling to work within the organisation, and your blog post has become my mantra. Thanks for your insight!
