Sounds like an after school special but learning to use your local library is one of the best adult life hacks out there.

Make no mistake, whatever he did for the Clippers on the court, we all know he put on a performance for the city this week.

Thank you so much!

It was a better time.

I just finished up a retrospective on the series, why it can’t be duplicated despite needing it now more than ever.

Over and over I think the content that tries to reassure audiences is what’s most damaging. Like Portnoy is a crybaby who speaks for the crybabies. He shows that it’s ok and you don’t need to grow.

Meanwhile sport is all about development, but that development is really freaking hard.

And all it took him was a decade of (mostly) thankless work 😂.

Fr tho there’s a lot of great sports content on YT, and a lot of it gets an audience. But there’s way more lazy outrage bait that pulls the same number with half the effort.

Its funniest when we do this over draft picks, esp in nba. “My team has 8 scratch off tickets in the next 5 years. Yours only has 2!”

My favorite thing about BoJack is the part that’s also saddest. Today, that thing would get booted after a lackluster season 1. But they had time to grow and figure out the show and actually be self aware. Philbert is all about how tv shows (including BoJack) rationalizing antiheroes is bad.

BoJack covers this really well. Like people aspire to be the families from sitcoms, but those sitcoms were made by people trying to make up for their bad home lives by imagining what good families are like.

The Offer on paramount about the making of the godfather was a great take on this. To make great art you need the resources to do it. Corporations have been in the movies as long as we’ve had movies, just need to be sly enough to get them to hand over the money.

I think it’s bc it’s the exact scenario he was staring down in the last rockets year, except that if he stayed he’d be on 60m+ per year rn.

You think Gunn, Tarantino, Snyder, Nolan have warmed us to the idea that some directors just do this? Like they keep a regular troupe of actors across movies and have them player similar roles.

Good thing they’ve got that unprotected Clipper pick next year. They could use some depth 😂

Couldn’t get the run support.

My eyes immediately glaze over whenever “industrial complex” gets appended onto a word. 99% of the time it’s more about looking deep than actually describing anything.

I think it’s bc different gens age into that 18-30 group that make a lot of the content and become big voices in the fandom.

Like gen 5 is lauded now but was getting killed when it first came out. The kids that played those games then are shaping the discourse now and so everything’s flipped.

This is such a smart way to look at tv I never thought about it like that.

Or put another way, the action is the juice.

I think it’s the most misunderstood DeNiro.

On The Rewatchables, I remember they called it a flaw that a calculated guy like Ace would ever go for Ginger. But there’s some small part of all of us that hope for the best even when the odds are shot.

Something a guy running a casino knows very well.

Feel like last few years we were approaching a kind of basketball abundance. Even the dregs of the league had some players and that’s just gone away. The bad teams are reaaaal bad now.
