i rabidly hate republicans
i've taken food poisoning fueled trips to the bathroom that passes off for a better expression of ideas than the combined brain power and aesthetic tastes of every single person in the trump administration on their best days put together

i hope he pops a vessel and can't operate until just in time for if/when we see his work undone

ask yourself what trump, putin, farage, la pen, the AfD, orban, and everyone else like them have to gain from the fraying bonds of the atlantic. ask yourself what would happen if europe gets its US-less alliance and suddenly their rw populists gain power in time to utilize it
December 11, 2025 at 10:52 PM
i think instead of asking how to move on completely from america forever everyone should be asking how to stem the tide of rw populism coordinating attacks on our alliances and what authoritarians stand to gain from it. it's happening in germany, france and the UK and it's happening here

america deserves consequences for its behavior but i politely ask western countries to see that what's happening in america is the result of a global right wing nationalist uprising that is occurring within and outside themselves as well

this goes beyond quibbles about how much each country should pay into NATO, i think it's a coordinated effort by right wing populists who see democratic alliances as a threat to their ideology and entitlement to regional power
December 10, 2025 at 9:51 PM
europe / the world is correct to be mad and wary of the US for the near future but i think it needs to be said that like the betrayal of ukraine this is broadly an elite project with little popular backing. ask yourself who stands to gain from fraying the bonds of western alliances
December 10, 2025 at 9:47 PM
what is fucking wrong with him dude

the reactionary right needs to be met with an equally if not moreso international lib-left

not asking europeans to take america's blatant bullying in stride, im just saying that this goes beyond disagreements about defense spending shares and is more a coordinated strike by those who see a US+EU alliance as a threat to their interests
December 9, 2025 at 7:52 PM
when alliances are called into question by authright populists across multiple nations at the same time, i think the good guys should band together calling into question the populists and not the alliances themselves
December 9, 2025 at 7:45 PM
the fraying of bonds, much like US betrayal of ukraine, is a stain that should reflect on all of us & also be recognized as an elite project instigated by russian info ops that also have their grip on far right parties across the west.
December 9, 2025 at 7:41 PM
i think europe is right to be upset and distrusting of us for the near future but it's another thing entirely when they talk about it as a problem with *our* temperament instead of a tragic casualty of a global age of chaos, something *they* are not immune to

they have beliefs and they're entirely predicated on the idea that they're entitled to double standards, which reads as hypocrisy to a normal person

i think it's ok that roberts feels this way. it's not an ideal response but it is a natural one to seeing how overwhelming the situation is and it's hard to ask for an ideal response from someone who is very obviously going through it

as an addendum i want to say that pointing out bad things are happening and caveats to small wins isn't even dooming at least imo. i only think it crosses that threshold when it's suggested that we're all just waiting for an inevitable end that'll come at any moment
December 8, 2025 at 10:15 PM
by suggesting better things are possible, doomers take it as an insult to their intelligence, because they feel the current crisis is being ignored by online hugboxes that paper over how bad everything is. where one person sees a way to ground themself during crisis, someone else sees internet cope

uncertainty of post trump america + the uphill battle of doing good in the current system. i genuinely think that on bsky dooming is less about knowing the facts & more about doubling down whenever someone says it's not over because nobody wants to feel stupid again
December 8, 2025 at 10:05 PM
i think it's a result of people talking over each other because everyone is so afraid of being hurt again after nov 5 that nobody wants to be the one to answer what comes after "and?" just suggesting there's at least a way out is seen as being too hopeful because of election trauma and the-
