Apparently, I now work at the Smithsonian Museum of arts and industries. (Either that or my building is serving as the backdrop for an action sequence in Percy Jackson and The Olympians season 3.)

First time I’ve ever seen nodding onion in landscaping 😊. I remember a few years ago when there was a stink because the university insisted on mowing down some fireweed (an art installation) before it went to seed, lest it establish on campus. I really appreciate the complete turnaround on this.

Sometimes a humpback whale photobombs your shot of orca mom and baby. 🤷‍♂️

One convenient thing about camping with an EV is powering an electric kettle with the car. I’m really tempted to ditch the propane Coleman stove for an electric tabletop induction burner.

Just ran 5K for the first time in my life. (33:22 PB! 😂) I will assume the coyote pup I saw at the start of my run was a good omen.

The planting at the reconciliation pole is looking quite nice. Definitely prefer this over mowed grass.

Worst campus parking space ever.

This tree didn’t come to play. 👀

I appreciate this false Solomon’s seal that popped up in an otherwise unkept planter on campus.

I’ll stick with my credit card for cishet white men 😂🤪.

Spotted this garter snake on Friday. TIL that garter snakes are both venomous (but very mildly at a level that does not affect humans) and poisonous (because their body retains toxins from certain amphibians they eat). 🤯 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garter_...

Looks like it’s currant-ly spring. (I’ll see myself out.)

Filmed some single-stem Heli-logging at Malcolm Knapp Research Forest yesterday. (They did not let me fly the helicopter.)

Got my first decent owl-in-flight photos today!

Sometimes, the easiest way to find a bird is to spot the birders. (Northern hawk-owl in Ladner, BC)

I was very lucky to have a sunny, snowy day to film at Malcolm Knapp Research Forest. @forestry.ubc.ca

Here is a current photo of the Pacific Ocean for you (Vancouver, BC). You’ll have to take my word that it’s right through that snowy fog.

Beautiful weather for a trade war 🤷‍♂️.

I just had the thought that maybe it would be a good exam question to ask AI to illustrate the nitrogen cycle and then ask students to point out some things that are wrong. Clearly I'm in over my head.

About to teach a course helping 180 1st-year forestry students chart their academic and career paths. I asked DALL-E to illustrate. (I needed a good laugh).

When I was in high school, I would go to Best Buy to look through all the VHS and CDs. Now you can’t buy any music or a movies in the store, but they do have turntables. This is a strange timeline.
