I’m glad you got it! Plenty of people here were nonplussed though…

Sorry, went on a deleting spree. It’s probably not wise to overshare my frustrations too much. Though I’m sure I’m not alone with them.

Ha! Well, there’s an idea…

I found it really resonant.

I’d happily make a bit of hay. Not to be sniffed at (not with my allergies!).

It will pass, of course. I actually feel for the romantasy authors getting their six figure deals just now. They’d better have something else lined up. Or just make hay while the sun shines.

I’ll be very interested to hear what you think of the new one, Robin. Saw an interesting interview with the director Nia DaCosta (whose reboot/sequel Candyman film is really great), which is well worth catching (maybe after the film).

I like short films. I also like long films. The first time I saw Ben Hur, one Easter Monday as a kid, I was dragged out somewhere part way through by my parents. When I got home again, IT WAS STILL ON. “Now, that’s a movie,” I thought (and still do).

It does mean there’s a lot riding on that final film!

Yep.

I found it thrilling and moving. And I “got” the ending, which I know a lot of people disliked. And I can understand that — it was a big tonal shift. The new film is a continuation without pause from that point, and it looks as though all three films will interlock to form one story.

It was exactly that — a story that required people to do the exact opposite of what they’d naturally do so the plot would move along. Infuriatingly bad!

I hear you.

Possibly not that much of a quicky — it’s clearly a big production. Rotten screenplay though.
