I'm really proud of our team at FarBridge – we shipped Homeworld: Vast Reaches, the deep-space strategy game, on SteamVR! There's a free demo and even a new mode to try. We *also* updated the Meta Quest version with the new mode! Kudos y'all! https://homeworldvastreaches.com/

I've been quiet on social media lately, mostly busy with work and family and real-life, but I'm definitely feeling a lil out of the loop with my friends in the industry. There's so much change going on, and it feels like a good time to just reach out and catch up! If you wanna do so, lemme know!

If you're into scifi, horror, pixel art, and indie games, check out my pals' new game "What the Stars Forgot"! They're doing a crowdfund to get across the finish-line! #indie #gamedev #scifi #horror […]

I’ve watched a couple episodes of Yellowjackets and I’m intrigued… but I’ve been burned by TV shows before. Do they know what they’re doing? You tell me! #yellowjackets

Does Yellowjackets have a plan?
Is there an overall plot to the TV show Yellowjackets? Is there a big plan for the story? Do they know where they’re heading? Or are they just making it up as they go?

Making software is difficult. Making software on the Internet requires arcane magic and even with the perfect incantations things go wrong exactly when you don't want them to. https://patrickcurry.com/boatsontheocean/

Some days I really connect with the magic that is game and software development, where you can turn ideas into code and that code becomes blinking lights that make our hearts go aflutter. Other days it's all 💩🔥♻

Am I crazy...

Have an old game project in ancient version of Unity (5.4.1p4).

Game runs great in editor, with lots of useful log messages. BUT make a build and the resulting .exe won't make a log file without the -logFile command-line parameter.

I tried a million things to fix it.

Gave up […]

I’m not the biggest fan of Chromium, but holy cow Electron makes it easy to turn a website / webapp into a lil self contained exe. Must resist urge to use this newfound knowledge to start a dozen new side projects.

I spent most of my time in meetings, but the vibe at DICE 2025 was surprisingly upbeat this year. Had some really inspiring and off the cuff conversations… and most importantly saw lots of friends who still love making games. #gamedev

@GDCPresoReviews I love your posts! Any chance you’d enable indexing / searching on this account so we can more-easily find specific posts and reviews?

Holy crap I found one of my all-time favorite game prototypes!

It's not technically special, but I had so much fun figuring out how to reuse the Starcraft sprites to make lil marines animate and walk around.

The idea was to turn this into a […]

I've been inspired by @gregpak to centralize more of my work on my own minimalist website.

Today I put a bunch (but not all) of my nonfiction writing and blog posts on this one page! Check it out for a bunch of #gamedev and #startup musings.

Caught in that fun loop of writing code and then getting curious about the data I'm handling so I'm writing code to inspect the data and thus the rabbit whole gets deeper and deeper. #gamedev

Places I’m compelled to port Doom… I’m sure some have been done before:
- Godot engine
- Unity engine
- Quake 1 engine
- Original Game Boy
- Apple Watch

I learned some new things about the guts of Steam and am having simultaneous "gee I know so much about #gamedev" and "wow I know zero about #gamedev" thoughts and emotions at the same time.

I'm super stoked to share this interview with my pal Alex Irvine, lead writer on Marval Rivals. Alex let me (and my kids) pepper him with questions about Rivals, his career, how he moved from sci-fi to comics to games, and more! https://patrickcurry.com/marvel-rivals-alex-irvine/ #marvelrivals […]

Today's modern world is making it difficult to search for the classic video game DOOM. I'm resorting to "doom the game not the state of human existence".

Here’s another #mastodon thought. What happens if a Mastodon instance goes offline? Like it just disappears from the Internet? Do the posts that once lived there that were boosted by users on other instances survive? Or do those “echos” disappear too?
