Vancouver has lots of beauty, and has lots of seedy. Beaches/mountains are beautiful. Cost of living has been hard on the city, so bars/restaurants don't have the vibrancy they once did (imo). If driving, an option that might appeal is take ferry from Van to Victoria, then to Seattle for the scenery
