My mom always says I shouldn’t post so much online

Just Transitions • Energy Economies • Social Justice
I’m less familiar with private ownership, unfortunately :( but I do think there are many interesting case studies of public-private partnerships in these transitions.

I think it helps to think beyond the usual lines of case study here and draw interdisciplinary ideas for projects.

There is - but like most things, it appears to be very urban focused. There are some cases where this isn’t true, such as new funding opportunities for First Nations communities. But when you’re talking $25m in infrastructure grants with a 20% match, that’s not possible for many areas.

Especially when you start talking about match amounts in grant funding of having the staff resource to begin to find funding or plan/develop land for these transitions.

I think what I keep running into, from a US-only perspective (having previously worked in an EU/UK context, I don’t think this was as much the case there) - is that energy communities typically have less resource (or rural communities) so getting funding can be extremely difficult.

Do you have any examples of compensation mechanisms that work for municipalities and individuals?

I’m working in this space in the US, and gathering concepts and examples on best practices.

I agree. I wonder if the knowledge gap is leading to further harms done by prominent organizations not having the tools and resources to co-create just transitions in energy.
