The lease of land for the sanctuary is only the beginning. WSP still has much to do for the lease to be finalized. The project is estimated to cost abt $20 million, and the yearly operating costs abt $2 million. All funding for the project will come from donations - hardly a viable financial plan.

They granted the WSP the right to use Crown lands without public hearings or legislative debate. Bypassing Landowner Consent despite previous statements requiring unanimous consent, they proceeded without it. This lacks transparency and accountability in the decision-making process.

Moving the Marineland whales to a sanctuary at this site will expose them to pollution and disease they’re not prepared for. They have lived in captivity for decades. Official reports and expert analyses show there are very real risks.
