This may not seem like a big deal to some, but replacing a statue of Robert E. Lee with civil rights activist Barbara Rose Johns in Emancipation Hall in the Capitol Visitor Center is a huge win for democracy. I was happy to be there for the unveiling. 😄

Some GOOD news: A statue of civil rights leader Barbara Rose Johns will be installed in the US Capitol. Rumor has it that the statue will be unveiled on December 16. (Source for historical background: Virginia Department of Historic Resources)

This is a picture on display at the Holocaust Museum in DC. An American newspaper cover from 1938. If you have a chance to visit this museum, I highly recommend it. You'll see how the propaganda/lies used back then are eerily similar to what is happening now. Don't let history repeat itself.
