As an aside, go read the Zimmerman Telegram. Sent to the Mexicans from the Germans, it promised the Mexicans a return of their land from the War of 1848, in return for their help in invading the US. That telegram, once exposed, launched the US into WWI. Classically stupid then, as now...😀

Every police officer in training is instructed as a practical matter - get a warrant, if at all possible. Most incidents are not time sensitive; this one was certainly not. They had the license plate and some physical identifying stuff. Just go to court and make your case. This appears intentional.

They had her license plate number and her physical description. Worst case scenario: just get a warrant; no need for force. Work it out in a court of law, not with violence on the street.
