I saw a visceral organ: a lung. Connected by narrow breathing tubes of iron rail, to bring people, life, energy (and yes, ok, south east London) into the city.

The Lung of London.

I need bright ideas for managing a very seasonal business.

2025 Top Ten. No.1 – After the Arrows. I've taken all the 'usual' pictures of this incredible display team. But this summer, I found something completely different.

No, WeTransfer, our recollections differ (also, wrapped-up year summaries for a file transfer service? OUT!)

Through a moving train window, but what a country, what a glorious country

2025 Top Ten. No.2 – May Morning. 5am start, a little early mist burnt off by the rising sun, and the Belles of London City Morris having a great time with their horse, Betley

2025 Top Ten. No.5 – The Windsor Stag. The stag's watching me. The jackdaws are watching everything else.

2025 Top Ten. No.6 – Feria. An unofficial flamenco dance party on the hot flagstones behind Malaga Cathedral, August.

No.7: Jonn in the Times Radio studio. A chance spot while heading out of the building; something iconic about the lighting and composition. Plus his book was a highlight of my reading year. www.waterstones.com/book/a-histo...

...and at No.8: Hayley, screaming through Mile 24 of this year's London Marathon. (I sent her the picture via the charity; I had another client that day, but this one had to find her)

My personal Top Ten for the year: (in no particular order) – at No.9 it's Maggie & The Guards. A special request for a wedding photo that had I had to get right first time.

This magic word, 'tostada'. They roast the grains more to get a deeper colour and flavour. The closest brand available in the UK is Brooklyn Special Effects. But that's quite rare. These are everywhere! San Miguel even has two varieties.
December 12, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Alhambra Brewery even does it on tap! It's fantastic.
December 12, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Every Spanish brewery (and quite a few others) produces a cero cero tostada! And they are available EVERYWHERE (remote village, city bar, all of them). And LOADS of people drink them. The rich, dark flavour is light-years away from the atrocious Becks Blue and Heineken Zero that are British defaults
December 12, 2025 at 9:57 AM
And it's a zero-zero, too (the 0.5s can be a bit troubling to the forsworn). Then I found more of them. A lot more of them. This word 'tostada' started to jump out at me.

BEER THREAD. I don't drink alcohol, but I do like a good zero beer. In Spain this summer, I spotted this can in a supermarket. €0.89, so what to lose? But it was EXCELLENT.

Who knows about these? I will have more to say on this.

Counting down my personal top ten pictures for the year: (in no particular order) #10: Shelagh's Buns. Hard to pick just one from a full Calendar Girls shoot, but the energy and fun here made it stand out.

This really moved me. As did seeing him on the stage, absolutely nailing it (including a spectacular Clary-and-Clary double act at the end). Because there was one other teenage boy on the Civic Hall stage in that panto with Jon Culshaw in 1982. And that was me.
December 10, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Went to the panto this week (thank you @lizwainwrightttt.bsky.social for making it all happen!) - yes, the Julian "tsunami of smut" Clary one at the Palladium. Lovely feature in the programme about one of the stars, including this line about his only other panto appearance.
