For the moment, I don’t know an alternative. Voters need to be encouraged to vote tactically in their constituencies to keep out extreme parties on both sides. Just an opinion.
June 8, 2025 at 5:12 PM
Good example but they’re both broad right of centre parties with similar policies. DUP not an extreme organisation (some may say they are).
June 8, 2025 at 5:09 PM
Example please.
May 28, 2025 at 10:20 AM
No. I’m arguing strongly against this. I do not want to provide any power to minority parties. This could happen under PR. Just look at the power exercised by a minority partner in Israel.
May 28, 2025 at 10:19 AM
And if they win an overall majority it’s not a minority government.
May 27, 2025 at 9:57 PM
That wasn’t under a PR system. In 2010 the Libdems won 23% of the vote and are not an extreme Party. They did not have extreme policies to tie the government to. Next example please, a better one needed.
May 27, 2025 at 9:36 PM
Potentially. Or radical left parties too.
May 27, 2025 at 9:31 PM
But at least they had 30%++. Unlike PR where the minority partner at say 10% hold all the cards. If you think this is fine, that’s your prerogative but I disagree. I’d rather a Party with 30-40% of the vote runs the country than be beholden to a Party with 10%.
May 27, 2025 at 4:51 PM
Give me any example where this has happened. Parties rarely get close to 50% in FPTP but the largest party still able to form a workable government.
May 27, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Because the smaller party supports a larger party and demands more than really entitled to in order to keep govt. in power. So 10% party, supports a 41% party but demands major policies not supported by vast majority.
May 27, 2025 at 4:40 PM
I used to agree but changed my mind. Very dangerous. Gives minority parties potentially excessive power.

So should Canada be in football European qualifiers? If not , why not.

Don’t think Venus looks anything like this. It’s a hellishly hot world temps well over 450 centigrade.

Try Skaro. 😉

They do get a 6th and if Villa had won the CL England would have had 7. That’s how it works.
April 23, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Not true. If Spurs win Europa League, England has 6 places in CL next season. #mcfc #mancity

In the late 60s…as a kid, then the moon landings just encouraged me further.

There should be a more progressive tax system. I know they can afford it but say 45% above £125k; 50% above £250k; 60% above £400k.

So you clearly don’t condemn Hamas atrocities, that’s all we need to know to show the sort of person you really are.
March 13, 2025 at 7:37 AM
No, what’s worrying is your inability to criticise Hamas. You are justifying the murder of people attending a music festival or living peacefully on a kibbutz. Hope you can sleep easy with this knowledge.
March 11, 2025 at 4:57 PM
We can all find people supporting our viewpoint. Again I do not support many of the Israeli government actions. I asked if you condemn Hamas’ atrocities but haven’t seen your response yet.
March 11, 2025 at 7:55 AM
It isn’t my comfort at all. If you can sit by and be comfortable at the murder of civilians too, you’re as complicit as Hamas and the Israeli government. I abhor both sets of actions. You?

A great independent source. Paid for by the Qatari government.
