I enjoyed #StarTrekAcademy, but one thing is still bugging me. The Betazoids are telepathic, not empathic. Deanna Troi was an empath because she was only half Betazoid. How did the whole planet lose their telepathic abilities? Is this a retcon or did the writers just not watch TNG?
