I went out for a walk at dusk a few evenings ago and made this image of a flowering tree that had branches hanging down over the neighbor's fence.

Our forsythia had an especially good spring this year. Lots of wonderful little yellow flowers. Here's a photo of a few of them :).

You can't tell from the photo, but I made this image while walking through the office park where I worked (before COVID) one day on my lunchtime walk.

I was out early one morning a couple summers ago and happened to notice the sun back-lighting this fern leaf and I thought it looked really cool.

FWIW, here's the B&W version
April 14, 2025 at 2:13 PM
It's not often that I prefer the color version of one of my images over the B&W version, but this is one such case. I saw these little guys (Siberian squill I think) in my lawn on Saturday and got out yesterday with my camera and flash.

I was on a walk through Devil's Lake State Park last fall when we came upon these two enjoying the view.

I'm really happy with the way I was able to set these white flowers off against a (almost) completely black background.

I found this strip of birch bark lying outside my garage door the other day. Yesterday I got out my camera and speed light and went to work. One of my goals is to get better at 'studio' lighting this year. This was my first step.

The B&W version of this wildflower isn't as stunning as the color I saw in real life, but B&W is my thing so that's what we get 😀. I came upon this flower hanging over into the sidewalk on my morning walk last summer and just had to stop.

Hands Off! rally at the WI capitol. I'm a horrible estimator of crowd size, but there were a helluva lot of people there. In the last photo, you can see a sea of people from the capitol steps all the way down State St. to the UW library mall.

Coincidentally, this photo was also made on Moon Lake (like my previous post) and just happens to fit the theme of #BlueSkyArtShow. The sun sets across the lake from the cabin we stay in and often presents interesting photo opportunities.

I made this photo from the beach of my favorite vacation spot in northern WI, USA. It's a family camp on Moon Lake where we spend a week each summer. It's the best week of the year!

This is another image I made for a 52Frames.com challenge. The task was to imagine a scene from a movie. My idea was to imagine that the camera comes upon this truck outside the bar and we come to understand that the protagonist must be inside.

I don't remember where we were when I made this image, but I'm pretty sure it was a small town somewhere in WI, USA.

One holiday season I headed over to the nearby outdoor shopping mall and saw this large lighted sign at one end of the main mall road.

I walked out of a shop in the small town where my wife is from and noticed how cool the arches separating the shops from the sidewalk looked.

I walk or drive past this rack of e-bikes almost every day and it's rarely this full. So when I saw it, I walked home and got my camera because the visual of the full row of bikes intrigued me.

I noticed the strong shadows and directional light on the back of our sofa one morning when the sunlight was streaming in our living room window.

The next few will be a series of typewriter close-ups taken one afternoon at a local antique store.

This is a favorite flower shot of mine. I like to find things around the house and put them right next to the kitchen window and see what I can make with the natural light. I might try again soon using a focus stack.
