I met Patten once and upon hearing my accent he cheerily started talking to me about some N Irish lord he knew as if I must also have been acquainted with him.

He didn’t. He shared a post about London by someone who happened to mention NYC in passing. I can’t help but think we’re all ultimately arguing the same point.

There’s a weird thing in the UK where London is presented as a dystopian place where you’ll get stabbed, can’t own a phone, a watch, or a sandwich. Anyhow, it’s being driven by bad people. So, I can’t speak for Steve, but he was just sharing something nice about London rather than shitting on NYC.

Leaving London is the best thing I’ve done since I moved to London. I absolutely love the place, but equally it’s not any sort of personal failure to decide it’s not quite for you anymore. At least that’s what I tell myself…
