At night I write poetry and prose, write songs and paint. I also like to play the guitar, badly, which makes the members of my band, The Fractal Cats, laugh. My blog is at www.paulglover.uk. My academic posts are at @profpaulglover.bsky.social
I painted a Red Kite, and felt the breeze in my feathers, and imagined myself as a Kite conversing with the breeze in pirouettes and playful dances. A poem was bound to come, and did. It came in the form of a Sonnet. @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social @birdpainter67.bsky.social @birdpainter.bsky.social

I think Red Kites are wonderful things, and we have lots of them here in North Yorkshire. Bored of cats (if ever), I decided to paint one. I wrote a poem too and will post that soon. #redkites www.paulglover.uk @birdsoftheworld.bsky.social @birdpainter67.bsky.social @birdpainter.bsky.social

And the last of the three cats, is Panda, short for Pandaemonium. She is the cat who got the cream, & the fish supper & her paws in the jam. Panda is the born climber who cannot climb and certainly cannot land. Panda is the one whose mews all mean “Was that really me?” @poorlycatdraw.bsky.social

Today, eh! Got bored. Made rye #bread and spiced apple and parsnip #soup. Swept a chimney and #painted a cat. I cannot share many of these things with you, but I can show you the cat. @awatercolouraday.bsky.social @poorlycatdraw.bsky.social

I wrote this poem this morning because I felt that many kind circles were being wrongly labelled as vicious circles. 🙃

Hawthorn is one of my favorite plants. My painting is from a photo I took earlier in the year (for the flowers) and a branch of berries from a tree on the Nunnington Ridge near where I live. @awatercolouraday.bsky.social @flowerpainting.bsky.social #watercolour #watercolor #flowerpainting

Wonderful walk in the Yorkshire Moors today. Autumn clouds and all the reds and myriad browns of the coming season, but with the warmth of the senescent sun.

...and here are the fruit mixes for the jams/jellies - 100% foraged! The sugar will be from the supermarket, though.

There is nothing like a foraging day in North Yorkshire - Huttons Ambo, with sloes, haws, elderberries, apples and various other berries.

Last night's Comedy About Spies was hilarious, but tonight's Back to the Future: The Musical was mind-blowing. Incredible!

The last 24 hours painting (and sleeping) have been quite productive :)

There is something special about lying in the long grass with paints in the summer. I now know that van Gogh's most important tool was his hat! #watercolours #flowers @watercoloursociety.bsky.social [St Petersburg watercolours, Oil paints with quick drying linseed oil and fineliners]

While eating tonnes of tomatoes a day (efforts to reduce the glut), I thought I might as well paint them too! (St Petersburg watercolours, sepia and while pencils and clear nail varnish).

Ripe plums, fuchsias dropping red tears on parched earth and too many tomatoes to eat even for a tomato fiend like me! Bank holiday weekend!

The summer is now getting old, the Rosebay Willowherb is shedding its downy beard, and the pears are almost ready for picking. That is what I chose to paint today. The orininal from our garden tree, the painting on buff, and digitally darkening the background @awatercolouraday.bsky.social

... and despite how nice yesterday was for me - I went to bed having just written this poem, for some of those not as fortunate and against the perpetrators.
