UI Guy.
Apparently it took me 6 days - I was the world's most IDGAF baby. I haven't changed. 😏

Not too shabby for $500 and the size is perfect for game art - I think anything bigger would probably be overkill and harder to use. The little shortcut remote takes a bit of getting used to though.

Why? Because I'm an idiot for not realizing sooner that choosing your colours before drawing a single pixel is really dumb. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Also - never use a predefined palette from Lospec or wherever, unless you absolutely want your game to use a particular (old) console fixed palette.

I ended up getting the 16" - I only do little game graphics and it's much more portable. The 24" is like having a small car on your desk.

I've decided on a drawing tablet - now the decision is: 14, 16, 19, 22 or 24 inch. 😕

Next year's party will be epic! No photos allowed. 😒

Honestly, I want to spend my retirement making retro Amiga style games - I might manage 2.
November 4, 2025 at 1:52 PM
It was heavily inspired by the classic Amiga games, and The Bitmap Brothers work in particular. Those games were the pinnacle of game design, before the slow descent into the 3D commercial slop swamp we find ourselves in today.

Obviously, with all the experience I've gained and better tooling, it will take 3 years and not 3 months.
