Eyebrook reservoir: today’s juv American Golden Plover was interesting, but rather drab compared to the 350+ Eurasian Golden Plover it accompanied.

Mullion Cove: preferring the cliff edge thorn bushes, this Steppe Grey Shrike was a star bird, often venturing within 25m to chase bugs & a Dunnock.

Colliford Lake, Cornwall: Another sighting of a juv Baird’s Sandpiper, in Cornwall this year. It preferred the W shore near the dam, often with Ringed Plover. One of a few thru’out Britain this autumn.

Siblyback Reservoir: the 2 juv Pectoral Sandpiper associating, in the muddy inlet, seems to be their favour area to forage. Most of the Dunlin & Ringed Plover have now moved on.

Colliford resservoir: what looks like an adult & 2 juv Buff-breasted Sandpipers were a joy to watch. They accompanied 30+ Ringed Plovers, a young Dunlin & a juv Inland Sanderling.

Millbrook Lake: moulting adult Semi-palmated Sandpiper roosting with the regular Redshank flock at HT this morning. The soon dispersing waders, to the vast mudflats of nearby St Johns lake, also took this petit stint with them. Hopefully it will follow them back here with the next HT.

Siblyback Lake: juv Pectoral Sandpiper, viewed from the N, muddy, inlet of the reservoir. Sadly, I wasn’t quick enough to get a pic of the nearby juv Baird’s Sandpiper before the waders up and went for 1/2 hr. Only a few pf the birds returned, including this Pec, but not the Baird’s. Maybe later?
