I did a thing today!

Stopped by @vortexbooksncomics.bsky.social and saw @briankeene.bsky.social and @marysangiovanni.bsky.social, and had a blast. This constituted a mini-roadtrip for me, @ecfnj.bsky.social and @bluntlittletool.bsky.social, along with The Bug, and it was a glorious outing.

Two weeks ago (on Day 90), I made the hard decision to begin a rewrite mid-story b/c I’d written myself into a corner that I couldn’t mentally leap frog over. The first manuscript was 169 pages.

I just first page 52 of the rewrite. Am I catching up? Who cares? Fuckin WRITE.

Day 105.

Day 90 of #600x150

I’ve been bouncing around, partly due to necessity, partly because I’d written myself into a massive corner.

I had to revise a story about Pittsburgh and being haunted for a submission deadline. I also had to contend with the fact my novel had a superfluous character I was—(1)

Day 71 of #600X150

We’ve hit page 150

On Day 70 of #600X150, a day of stresses and chaos, I still took some time a little bit ago to get some writing in.

I can tell how tired I am by how much of a bruise I have on the underside of my forearms from using my typewriter at my kitchen table. Also, page 148 for those keeping count.

I think today is Day 55 of #600x150, but I’m not entirely sure ( @cynthiapelayo.bsky.social would know).

I hit page 125 today on this shaggy dog of an apocalypse novel currently called ONE WEEKEND DURING THE END OF THE WORLD. Today I really did write more than the usual 600 words.

Day 46 of #600x150

Page 103 and doing this in 2 and 2.5 page days makes the first draft feel shaggy. That’s okay, though—it’s a fucking first draft and I’ll revise later. What matters is getting it all down; there’s gold in there or I otherwise would’ve gotten bored already

Day 45 of #600x150

I hit page 100 today.

Art I was gifted or I purchased on my birthday.

Today for Day 41 of #600x150, the new work (and my first on a typewriter) just about hit novel length because I can’t word count well. (I’m typing 2 pages at roughly 430 words a page. Whoops.)

Working title: ONE WEEKEND DURING THE END OF THE WORLD.

My rare chances of doing this in the morning.

Day 21 of #600x150. Three weeks and 54 pages in.

This is my heaven. And, since I’m an avowed atheist, this is as close as I’m ever gonna get.

Day 15 of #600x150.

Start of Week 3, I finished page 43 that I’m afraid to even sum up as an elevator pitch, but I’m happy to be working on it. It feels so far removed from my usual routine, and not just because I haven’t used a typewriter since middle school, but that gives it magic.

Day 12 of #600X150. I didn’t note it yesterday, but I’m continuing, brick by brick. This week has been a chaos week, both professionally and personally (back to school and also my kid is now in my high school), but these brief writing sessions have been a balm.

#600X150 Day 9

Wound up going onto page 4 and breaking the 600 words because I saw the end of the chapter in sight.

Whoops!

Blew past the 600 but that’s because I wanted to get to this:

(I’m continuing to quote post Cina because she started this whole thing; this concept is not original to me, and I’m glad she started it).

Eight minutes to spare on this very busy Day 8 of #600X150, but I wanted to get something down. This is too fun to let go of, so it was my treat before bed.

Here’s to everyone who wrote something today.

#600X150 Day 6

For the past ten years, I’ve written in the morning. This past week, I’ve only been writing at night, like I have just enough juice for these three pages before I go read and go to bed.

This is where I wound up today.
August 9, 2025 at 3:50 AM
Busy as hell getting my classes ready for the school year, but I gave myself some time for this weird thing I’m writing.

This is like the slowest live-tweeting of a novel, ever.
August 7, 2025 at 3:40 AM
I can’t actually count my words on the typewriter—or, rather, its arduous do so. But, using the rule of thumb that 1pg = 250 words (roughly), I’ve been measuring 2.5 pages a day. However, I went a little further today, finishing up at page 9 instead of halfway down page 8. I’m not complaining

Moved down to the kitchen today, where I usually work, keeping myself hydrated with some water in my @fangoria.bsky.social thermos (tagging because who doesn’t love some of that sweet endorsement potential?). Is this a novel I’m writing? A novella? I have no fucking clue.

Some of these are obvious, some are personal favs that I can’t believe aren’t talked about more, some are maybe hot takes?

Whatever. Have at it #horrorsky
