Doug will have a very broad choice of board seats when he exits... more even than Mike Harris - chair of Chartwell LTC for 20 years.

Slower in what sense? The Ottawa LRT eg. Parliament to St Laurent - is occasionally slower even than walking- but still faster in time A to B, and way more consistent, than car or bus. Yes, a concern and poor design/execution, but still better and hopefully improved

I now get excellent service from for-profit lab tests, imaging, 'scopy. And from my (franchised) GP clinic. Fast, efficient, reliable, well-staffed. All on OHIP. Very different from a few decades ago. Yes to single-public-payer... but government-run?

NYT, May 2024: The End of Polio is in Sight.
> In Pakistan & Afghanistan, the women on the front lines see the end of polio in sight... when surveyed about their experience, they asked: What can we work on next?

In a future decade, will this be written about US experience?

Very clear that rule-of-law cannot depend solely on good will. So strong, clear deterrents must be enforced when the rule-of-law folks return. Pardons or wrist slaps will only lead to repetition.

The BBC should release a memo to staff... 'the current Pres has demonstrated the intent to take punitive actions whenever a report offends him - even if the report is accurate. To avoid costly... the BBC will delete or redact such reports.'
And make the redactions visible.

Syriana, Matt Damon, desert rant...
...You know what the business community thinks? They think that 100 years ago you were living in tents out here in the desert chopping each other's heads off and that's where you'll be in another 100 years. So, yes, on behalf of my firm I accept your money.

The illegal actions of people in power in 2025 - which have caused incredible damage and pain - must be prevented in future administrations. This means penalties which will deter such actions. Laws without such penalties are meaningless. This is how justice works.

So the debt lasts a lifetime... you will be free from debt when you are 80. Similar to the terms of many student loans, and loans for medical care absent ACA. A 21C finance version of debt bondage. Rentiers rule.

SNL, Baldwin as Trump... "You people stand by me no matter what. It's like you found a finger in your chili, but you still eat the chili because you told everybody you love chili. It's tremendous!"

Maybe Epstein is the cockroach in the chili. Inedible, finally.
