Billy Williams homered in the 2nd off Tom Seaver at Wrigley Field in Sept. 1972. The one I remember more was Burt Hooton’s grand slam off Seaver in the 3rd, sending Seaver to the showers. Jose Cardenal added two HRs and Dave Rosello hit one in an 18-5 win.

Willie Mays played 1B for the Mets.

I sold a TV antenna to Walter Payton (my childhood hero).

He came in the store as we were closing. Had to check in back for one as there were none on the shelf. Couldn’t find them in storage, so I said a prayer and went back for one quick look and saw a box leaning against the wall. God exists.

Today's #SABR BioProject birthday bio celebrates the great @cleguardians.com pitcher and voice, Herb Score, born #OTD in 1933. Score's career was derailed by a line drive and later ended by a shoulder injury.

That said, Jack Chesbro also had great @mlb.com moments, too - like this 14 game winning streak in 1904. Chesbro had learned and mastered the spitball and turned it into his greatest weapon.
