I think this is a grammar issue. Biden commuted sentences “before Trump takes office,” not regarding crimes committed “before Trump took office.”
It describes when the commuting took place in regards to Trump’s 2nd term, not when the crimes were committed in regards to Trump’s 1st term.

I have to hear MAGA shit every day, on television, in the papers, on the radio, and in person. Why would I want to hear more of it here? I do want an echo chamber!
