And kids read Joyce in middle school! But I doubt Holiday's readers are not advanced readers anyway. It's just difficult to pull off a direct address to readers, I think. It's so hard to earn, and I think they both pull it off it in different ways. cheers

I'm that guest! I do think it's incredibly difficult to make philosophical and ethical thinking appealing, and am at awe at it even being done. I know how hard others have tried, and we try every day with students in college classes. But I have interested very few students in stoicism in 20 years.
