Kind of a quieter month, reading-wise. Usually I'd be adding more to the pile, but I guess not! As usual, massive thanks to @thestorygraph.com for this service!

I will never forgive studio Mappa for cancelling the movie.

But also, this is a hilarious and very niche joke.

Okay, I GOTTA post stuff that isn't gonna give me acid-reflux to this account or I'm gonna lose my gourd.

June's Cover Collage, courtesy of @thestorygraph.com~!
As you can see, it may LOOK a little sparse, but look closer and you'll see I actually reread ALL of Scott Pilgrim this month!

Finished the first volume of Mujina Into The Deep, the latest Inio Asano series published in English. It's high action and very fucked up! Highly recommended if you're already familiar with his work.

Also, I need update this account more often!

Achievement Unlocked: I Guess I'll Do It Myself

Have someone in admin talk about your original character as an example of going around copyright issues regarding anime characters in marketing material for the library. Time to put THAT on a resume.

Meet Evie, the mascot for my programs.

I've had to take the CRASE training over half a dozen times in my library career. Half a dozen middle school kids at work have been indirect victims of gun violence.

The social contract is broken, and blood will flow until it's repaired, be it through gun reform or medicare for all. For now, memes.

Look, it's not ideal, but in the public library world, if it works, it works...also the interpreter didn't pick up in time either!

Absolutely the FUCK not, FUCK THIS.

If I ever become a famous writer or illustrator, I want to have an entire photoshoot emulating whatever vibes photos of Shel Silverstein give off.

It's #bannedbooksweek2024 and it's absolutely telling that the current contenders for banned books are about queer and/or BIPoC folks, and about sex!

Here's my display at work!

Saw this through a work email and almost IMMEDIATE retched. Holy shit, it's bad enough that HUMAN made "therapy" startups were bad news, and now we're sending in AI for it??? Fuck that.

Borrowed this on Hoopla, decided to read it this morning. Did NOT expect a cyberpunk thriller on the level of the John Wick movies! Search and Destroy, vol. 1, by Atsushi Kaneko is great for adults seeking fresh, new seinen manga that's got roots in classic Tezuka stories.

More info in alt. text!

Also, I just finished this more recently: Ali Hazelwood's 'Bride' is also a supernatural romance novel, but with a heavier emphasis on the romance than anything else (read: graphic werewolf/vampire boning). Again, (K)NOT for KIDS.

Bless the addition of the fast-forward button lmao

Picked this up because a friend and blogger for TheGothicLibrary.com recommended it, and was very glad I did! @wiswell.bsky.social's debut horror/fantasy/queer romance novel 'Someone You Can Build a Nest In' is a fun and terrifying in equal strokes, and is quite a ride!

DEFFO NOT FOR KIDS THO!

@quasimaddi.bsky.social's graphic novel adaptation of R.L. Stine's classic middle-school novel 'The Haunted Mask' is both a treat to veteran fans and new kids alike. Her art is equal parts expressive and genuinely horrifying.

Great for reluctant readers and most middle-school kids!

Short, dark and spooky, "The Me You Love in the Dark" is a graphic novel about a young artist finding her inspiration from...something...haunting her.

Great for adults fans of horror and..."unconventional" romance.

The immigrant experience is being too foreign for both the home you came from and the home you're in, and no other book has made that so clear and so accessible in this beautiful graphic novel, Continental Drifter by Kathy Macleod.

Terrific for middle school readers, esp. from immigrant families.
