Got it for Christmas! Also got pneumonia, which completely collapsed my attention span. Looking forward to diving into my Christmas books when I’m over it.

Why are so many videos taken in a car? How/why did that become common? Serious question

Yes! POTUS is inaugurated at 12am Jan 20. If he is late or can’t stay awake, he’s out.

I love that this guy blocked me for this. Nice to mix it up baseball wise in late December

I’m going to regret this but your Yankees won the pennant two years ago and tied for the best league record in 2025. A long way from mediocre. I agree it’s too easy to drift along the bottom but the Yankees aren’t doing that.

I’d guess more but don’t think it takes from your larger point. Would be well worth the money

I miss those.

Never say "daily" when end of semester grades are looming. Here is NGC 281, the Pacman Nebula. 281 is a lovely subtle glow with lanes and edges in the scope. #astronomy 🔭🧪

Absolutely. But for us not terribly individual. By May we no longer recall who bought what and we just read them all.

On it. The mention of birds was inspirational. Seriously.

She wouldn’t be upset; I would feel bad. And not even bad, I like doing cool things for her. Often I accomplish that on Christmas but not always.

We have plenty of binoculars but a birding book is actually perfect for a bunch of reasons this year! Thanks.

We definitely buy stuff during the year and I don’t really think she’ll mind a bunch of books. (I know she won’t in fact!) But she is extraordinary at picking out something small and meaningful and/or funny. It can be hard living with greatness.

You kid but, for the first time in almost 30 years of marriage, I have no good ideas for her. Guess we’ll see if “you don’t have to get me anything,” is a euphemism or not. (I have gotten her a bunch of books which will be welcomed but no quirky just for you gift)

NGC 2403, a spiral galaxy we see face on in Camelopardalis. Like most face on galaxies, this one is tougher than you think it'll be when looking in the eyepiece. But if photographs nicely. It's 8 million light years away and part of the M81 group.

As someone who lived and worked in science in the USA through the 90s, 00s, & 10s let me tell you...it was glorious. Every day you'd meet people from all over the world here doing the coolest stuff side by side. I'm blessed. And sad to be seeing it end. And hoping maybe we can fend the bastards off.

A crop on the center of cluster Abell 194. Minkowski's Object is the little bluish blurry shape at NGC 541's 7 o'clock position, almost touching the diffuse edge of the galaxy. #astronomy 🧪🔭

NGC 541 and nearby galaxies, most a part of Abell 194. I observed this on Thursday night of the party and managed to see the arrow asterism of galaxies as well as a few off to the right. Right up close to 541 is Minkowski's Object, which can be seen here, but not in my eyepiece. #astronomy 🧪🔭

My father, who collected quite the list of bodily insults the last 15 years of his life, said shingles was the worst thing to ever happen to him and ordered me to get a vaccine as soon as I could (six months after he passed as it turns out. It laid me out for a day, yes, but I’m glad I got it).

Uh, not to give TMI, but that yellow statement is incorrect
